Music: soundtrack of precious moments

Those who make music know very well that silence is as important as sound.

Because it gives music not only time “to breathe” (above all to singers, when it

comes to sing!), and doing so it gains deepness and expressiveness, but silence also

marks the rhythm of the musical phrases and sometimes even the rhythm itself, as

in the case of syncopation.

In everyday life however, many of us are scared of silence and to avoid it ever

fill their spare time, or the one spent in travelling or doing activities such as

keeping fit at the gym, by putting on earphones which provide a continuous stream

of sound and words. And thanks to that, they get distracted from their worries,

problems, loneliness, fears, true needs, etc..

The bright side of this habit lies in the opportunity to create our own

soundtrack linked to every moment we live, in such way assigning a special role to

music. In fact, whenever we listen again to a song we have got used to enjoy,

during a precise time we had, we are naturally leaded on the same emotional

paths. And that let us relive one more time all those sensations and feelings,

whether we intentionally hear the music or it happens by accident.

The outcome is we get the chance to personally experiment the wide range

of effects that a song, or in general a piece of music, can produce on our mind; in

certain conditions nearly instantly, like a real ready-to-use therapy. Sure, the result

depends on the type of memories it evokes. But it is undeniable how powerful

music is and that is the reason explaining the growing importance of it, not only in

the movie industry and on a larger scale in the entire entertaining world, but in

practice in every field of our life in which a successful communication is required.

Then there are occasions, really special for us, that need to be celebrated.

Therefore a musical composition created specifically for those precious moments

can transform them in something truly unforgettable. Just as I did when it came to

make a music for my parent’s 50th wedding anniversary. A remarkable

achievement I wanted to highlight conceiving a twelve minutes orchestral score

where several themes, each of them with its own features, coexist and represent

the wide span of life spent together. While part of that music has been used as

musical comment of the video done to remember the party held for the occasion,

the whole score turned both into a CD and an Mp3 file always on hand, to

experience the magic of that day over and over again.
